Horse show supports breast cancer trials

September 11, 2019

With preparations well underway for the Standardbreds for Breast Cancer Trials Horse Show on September 29, members of the Standardbred Pleasure and Performance Horse Association of Victoria are hoping for more sponsors.

Show group president Lesley McAliece said the group was aiming to present $3000 to Breast Cancer Trials.

“That outcome would not be possible without the support of a number of local businesses,” she said.

Ms McAliece said the event was important to raise awareness on the statistics of breast cancer and its prominence in the community.

“It’s close to home for me. I’ve been through this myself,” Ms McAliece said.

Secretary Maree Lund said members Sebastian Bellamy and Zaehl Boyd were part of the hardworking team who were working tirelessly to organise the show.

“People attending the show have the opportunity to take part in a raffle which is drawn on the day. There are a growing number of great prizes on offer,” Ms Lund said.

“We have several horse rugs, a beautiful ladies leading hat, bags of horse feed, a discount voucher for a false horse tail and one for a riding cane, a pair of joddies, Repco car products, a ladies watch and so much more.”

Ms Lund said people who won the raffles had to be at the event on the day as they were unable to post prizes.

Ms Lund and Ms McAliece thanked their sponsors; Kilmore Racing Club, Central Ford, Modern Car Care, Repco, Mz Sparkles Cleaning Services, Tree Tactics, SSS Bargain Builders, Cellarbrations at Foxxys, Goulburn Murray Credit Union, Simon Yu Pharmacy, Southside Stockstockfeeds Kilmore, Pet Stock and EQ Saddleworld. The horse show will be at Kilmore Equestrian Centre and all money raised will go to Breast Cancer Trials in support of research.
